SAND started from a simple frustration: I wanted the Apple Photos browsing experience for photos that already lived in folders, external drives, SD cards, and cameras. I didn't want to import everything into another library just to browse my photos.

So I built SAND, a native macOS app that lets you browse photos directly from where they already are. Nothing is moved, copied, uploaded, or synced.

Some of the features include:

• Browse folders, external drives, SD cards, iPhone, Android, and digital cameras • Familiar Years, Months, and Days timeline • Fast local search • Hidden Vault protected with Touch ID or your Mac password • Multiple themes and customizable layouts • Privacy focused with everything staying on your Mac

This is an indie project that I've been building over the past few months, and there's still a lot on the roadmap. Planned improvements include smarter search, duplicate detection, metadata editing, and more ways to organize large photo collections.
